I made this record in the worst year of my life. Most of it came out in pieces, late at night, after the apartment went quiet again. Some of these songs took an afternoon. Some of them took six months and a lot of crying.

It's out in the world now. There's a stack of CDs next to my desk. I sign each one by hand, on the front cover. It feels like writing a letter.
